Joanne Kephart Bleichner graduated from the University of Maryland, with a degree in Studio Art and Art History, the recipient of the Colonel James P. Wharton award for excellence in art.  Her artwork has been exhibited in individual, group, and juried exhibits in Md.,DC,Va. as well as North Carolina. A custom picture framer, she frames all her artwork and prints. In addition to continuing to work in Montgomery County, MD public schools, she’s had a private art studio, teaching daily classes to hundreds of students for the past 25 years, inspiring many to art related study and careers.

A regurally traveled path into our woods provides the material of  trees, leafless branches, a path's angles and changes during the seasons, associations, recollections, and an emotional contact with the place. Compositions are refined by drawing, adding and subtracting elements to get to the essence.The paintings develop with nuanced layers of visible, rhythmic brushstrokes.
